Mary's Habitat Experience

I spent January 6-13 in Lucedale, Mississippi working with Habitat for Humanity.  I went with a group of 22 from Sacred Heart, and over the course of the week we built the majority of a house, worked in a Habitat warehouse, and helped out at an elementary school.  Meeting and working with the family who was to receive the house was amazing, because we all saw it go up together.  A mom, dad, two daughters, and a son now have a sound, awesome house to live in! It was an absolutely incredible experience and was so much fun!  We also got to experience the out-of-this-world southern cooking at every meal (carbs on carbs--we all definitely gained a few), and lovely southern hospitality.  We also got to visit New Orleans, the 9th ward where the levy broke during Katrina, and Bourbon street. I definitely recommend Habitat to everyone.  I would not have been able to go if not for all of your generous donations, which I thank you for with all my heart.  You not only helped me get down there, but you also helped a very deserving family get a new home.  A special thank you to Ann and Tom for organizing the money from the Christmas party, but I appreciate each and every one of your donations.  You guys are the best!!!
